Governor R S Gavai had cancelled the decision of Calicut university syndicate to dismiss three teachers. Three teachers of Zoology department Dr K V Laser, Shibu Vardhan and V M Kannan had approached the Governor, who is also the vice chancellor, challenging the syndicate decision. The Governor in his order termed the syndicate decision as denial of common justice.

Over 1.3 million students of Classes 10, 11 and 12 in Kerala are appearing for the state public examinations beginning Monday, officials said.

Union Ministry for Human Resources Development has granted permission to the state to set up 60 new high schools and to improve infrastructure facilities of 1000 existing schools. The central government would grant Rs 35 crores this financial year and another Rs 10 billion next year.
